Having previously been Chief Operating Officer of Castleton Technology and working in Property Technology for over 20 years, James plays a pivotal role within MRI Software as the Managing Director of MRI’s FM, Energy and Retail Intelligence solutions.

James is passionate about adopting forward thinking technology and Internet of Things to meet sector challenges and help organisations reduce operational costs and become more sustainable.

With MRI’s acquisition of eSight Energy, James is now integrating MRI’s Energy Management solutions into the wider Facilities Management ecosystem to help organisations save energy costs by levering space usage and footfall analytics.

“After a short early career in legal and professional publishing, in 1995 I founded Workplace Law Group, a regulatory training and consulting business specialising in health and safety, environmental management, HR and employment relations.

In July 2014 I restructured the company to create a new business, International Workplace, to widen the focus from national law to international standards, and to accelerate growth into global markets, led by the development of innovative learning technologies.

I’m a fellow of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management and of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. I play an active role in the workplace management industry through voluntary roles and through my involvement with the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers.

I hold a Masters in Artificial Intelligence Ethics and Society the University of Cambridge, and qualifications in human resources (CIPD) and health and safety (NEBOSH). I’m a technical member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (TechIOSH).”
