Passionate about facilities management – a sector she has worked in for over 20 years, including Executive level positions at leading FM firms – Val is keen to encourage more women into this male-dominated industry. She has provided mentorship for fellow mothers, is a member of ‘Women in FM’ and supports DMA in its work promoting the FM sector to young people through school and college partnerships and apprenticeships. Val has worked for DMA for the past three years and has been instrumental in bringing its self-developed, award-winning workflow management platform BiO® to market; a solution that has transformed DMA’s own business and is set to be launched as a ‘Service as a Software’ (SaaS) in 2026.

Andrew is also the Chair of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management which the recognised as the leading body for workplace and facilities professionals.

David Stevens started his career as an apprentice electrician before becoming a design engineer and project manager. He has over 30 years of experience in Building Services design, construction, project management, strategic maintenance planning and estates management.

David specialises in the operational aspects of the Built Environment, with Facilities Management best practice, improved standards of engineering delivery, and effective performance management across large property portfolios as his main areas of engineering focus; with a keen interest in Soft Landings and major projects transition. David has worked in both the private and public sector and is currently Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development for an outstanding NHS Trust.

David is Chair of the CIBSE FM Group and CIBSE LGBTQI+ Panel. He sits on a number of industry committees, boards and awards judging panels. He is a professional reviewer and interviewer for CIBSE and registration with the Engineering Council. David is a CIBSE Silver Medal holder and Court Assistant to the Worshipful Company of Engineers.
